The summer program runs for 16 weeks from late May to mid-September. Each week, there are two or three concurrent workshops, two to five weeks in length, each focused on specific topics selected for timeliness and the potential for breakthroughs. All told, there are twelve or thirteen workshops, balanced across fields of theoretical physics. Some researchers also participate in small working groups or as individuals. Our aim is to maximize informal interactions and free discussion within subject areas and cross-fertilization between different fields. Participation in the summer program is by application and subsequent invitation only.
