Meet Our Physicists
Washington (Wati) Taylor
Washington Taylor is currently a Professor of Physics in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) Center for Theoretical Physics (CTP). He received his B.A. in mathematics from Stanford, and Ph.D. in physics from the University of California, Berkeley in 1993. He served as the Director of the CTP from 2016-2018. Research has primarily focused on fundamental questions in string theory and quantum gravity; current work aims to understand constraints from quantum gravity on low-energy physics and how the Standard Model can naturally arise in the framework of string theory. Taylor has also worked on education and policy related to energy and climate, and is currently engaged in some research in mathematical and computational ecology.
