Sam Smart

Sam Smart joined our team in 2024 as the Office and Event Assistant. He grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa before moving to Stellenbosch where he completed a BEng in Mechatronic Engineering at the University of Stellenbosch.

After graduation, Sam decided to fly across the world to work a ski season in Aspen. It wasn’t long before he fell in love with the place and the people and his interest in physics began budding. Sam soon discovered the Aspen Center for Physics and attended the winter series of public lectures which fueled what had bloomed from an interest into a passion for physics. As the 23/24 ski season drew to a close, he decided to stay for the summer and working at the Center seemed like the obvious choice.

Sam anchors the front desk where he helps facilitate the Center with the physics workshops and public events throughout the summer program. Sam looks forward to to pursuing his studies in physics and a career in quantum technology.
