Qimiao Si is the Harry C. and Olga K. Wiess Professor of Physics at Rice University and Director of Rice University’s Extreme Quantum Materials Alliance (eQMA). He obtained his B.S. degree from the University of Science and Technology of China and Ph.D. degree from the University of Chicago. He did postdoctoral works at Rutgers University and University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Prof. Si is a condensed matter theorist. His major contributions have been on strongly correlated electron systems, including quantum criticality and strange metallicity, high temperature iron-based superconductivity, correlated topological matter, and heavy fermion physics. Prof. Si was recognized as a Sloan Research Fellow and by a Cottrell Scholar Award. He was elected a Fellow of the British Institute of Physics, the American Physical Society, and the American Association for the Advancement of Science. He was the recipient of a Humboldt Research Award in 2012, was named a Ulam Distinguished Scholar at the Los Alamos National Lab in 2018, was named a Vannevar Bush Fellow in 2023, and serves on the Board of the Aspen Center for Physics as a General Member.
