IN MEMORIAM
Pat Carey
Pat Carey, who anchored the Stranahan building from 1980 to 2010, passed away last week at a care facility in Carbondale. With bright red hair and an impish personality, she knew Aspen thoroughly and shared amusing local stories and entertainment ideas with all of the ‘phyzzies’ and families whom she loved. When Jane Kelly first assumed the administrative reins in 1995, Pat already knew the physicists well and graciously guided Jane through potential pitfalls with particularly picky participants. Pat loved working here but when ailments began to slow her performance, she decided to retire – but maybe not! She actually retired three times before leaving permanently. We’re not sure of her age, either, as she changed her birthdate more than once. She was a colorful player in the history of the Center.
