Greg Stephens
Greg J Stephens is an Associate Professor of Physics & Astronomy at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and an Adjunct Professor at OIST Graduate University. He obtained his Ph.D. in theoretical physics from the University of Maryland with a dissertation in general relativity under the guidance of Bei-Lok Hu. He held postdoctoral positions at Los Alamos National Laboratory with Wojciech Zurek and Garret Kenyon, and, following a shift in research direction to biophysics, with William Bialek at Princeton University. His research seeks organizing principles of the living world, a remarkable constellation of inanimate matter and energy flows, which includes emergent, adaptive behavior and intelligence.
