A Rainbow of Dark Sectors

Understanding the nature of dark matter (DM) is a major open question in particle physics. Large fundamental questions about DM and its physical origin, structure, and evolution remain. The dark sector encapsulates a diverse set of theoretical ideas for DM, ranging from ultralight candidates to primordial structures as massive as stars. Experimentally, this prospective mass range requires efforts that range from table top experiments to international space missions; the vastness of this range makes a comprehensive hunt for DM challenging. Responding to this challenge, the main goal of this conference is to develop new strategies to apply direct detection, astrophysical probes, and theory to discover the physics of dark sectors. To fully take advantage of the diverse strengths and interests of the collective needed to advance our knowledge of the dark sector, participants in this workshop will also take part in conversations about fostering equity and diversity within the particle physics community.

This meeting will take an innovative approach to solving the problems at hand by promoting discussion and action, and serve as the jumping off point for future work supporting equity, diversity, and inclusion in particle physics. The conference will take place Monday through Thursday for a few hours each day over two weeks in an immersive virtual reality environment, which will allow for productive interactions between participants.
