Administrative Assistant
Aspen
Center for Physics is a non-profit
organization which hosts more than 1,000
physicists a year on its bucolic west-end
campus. The informal, collaborative
atmosphere for physicists extends to a
collegial work environment for a full-time
staff of two and part-time staff of two.
Currently, the position is for two full
days but may expand to five days in the
future.
Job requirements include:
- Front desk/concierge
- Planning and hosting events
- Campus management and upkeep
- Knowledge of Aspen amenities and
resources
- Computer technology skills
- College education required

Development Coordinator
The Aspen Center for
Physics seeks a highly motivated
development coordinator to join its team.
This is a part-time appointment, and
remote work arrangements with regular
visits to the Center can be considered.
The development coordinator will work
closely with the management of the Center
(its Administrative Vice President,
President, Chair of the Board of Trustees,
and other Members of the Center) to
cultivate existing and new donors and to
increase donations to the Center overall.
Outreach activities will include direct
mail, electronic solicitations,
conversations, and organized events that
bring together physicists and potential
donors. The development coordinator will
work closely with the Friends of the
Center committee and maintain a database
of Friends and potential Friends and
donors. Our priority in the next few years
is to raise funds to increase the
diversity of Center participants and to
increase support for housing for our 500
summer program participants. Fundraising
targets include both individuals and
foundations.
The Aspen Center for Physics
(https://aspenphys.org/) was established
in 1962 to nurture cutting-edge research
in physics and related disciplines by
providing a unique physical and scientific
environment ideally suited for stimulating
interactions, collaborations, and
innovation. Every year, more than 1,000
physicists from around the world come to
the Center, located in Aspen, Colorado, to
ponder, argue, and discover the new ideas
that underlie advances in astrophysics,
biophysics, condensed matter physics,
high-energy physics, and mathematical
physics and string theory. The Center is
an independent non-profit corporation not
affiliated with any university. It is
operated by 75 volunteer General Members,
Officers, and Trustees and a paid staff of
2.5 in Aspen. Because of its contributions
to progress in physics, the Center was
designated a Historical Site of the
American Physical Society.
The ideal candidate for this position will
have the following qualifications and
characteristics:
- Minimum two years prior experience
with fundraising at non-profit
organizations. Experience at
universities or research institutes
would be appreciated.
- Strong initiative, organizational
skills, and interpersonal skills to
manage multiple projects and
relationships.
- Proven skills with databases.
- Excellent English, writing, editing
and proofreading skills.
- Bachelor's degree preferred.
