“The biophysics workshops at Aspen are not only very important for the research of the individual workshop participants, but are also pivotal for the emergence of biological physics as a new discipline and for the building of a community of researchers working at this exciting new frontier of physics.”

The History of Science at the Aspen Center for Physics

The Aspen Center for Physics has a rich history of accomplishments across most of the scientific frontiers of theoretical physics as well as an archive that contains materials going back to the very beginning. The Trustees entrusted the summarizing of that rich history to four groups of physicist volunteers who chronicled astrophysics, biophysics, condensed matter physics and particle physics at the Center. In addition, all of our former participants were asked to send short essays on the subject, what Aspen has meant to me. Click on the links to read these histories and short essays.
